QSE Advanced can be used in class or for individual study
leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education
(IGCSE) English - Second
Language. All seven tiers of the reading and writing core and extended
examination sections are practised -skimming for information, detailed
comprehension, information transfer, note-making, summary writing, extended
writing in formal and informal formats. There is additional practice in
the three Extended Reading sections of the book.
The QSE Advanced Workbook section contains practice material to
help students with all tiers of assessment. In addition, the activities
focused on other exams will greatly benefit students in their skills assessments.
The audio and video clips and listening activities in each Unit fit all
four listening comprehension tiers for the IGCSE with a mixture of comprehension
questions and spoken texts (conversations, interviews, monologues, etc.).
The six IGCSE spoken tiers are practised in every Unit with many different
opportunities for discussion, for example in the Viewpoint, Word Power,
Reading, Speak Your Mind, Listening, Teamwork, Controversy, CLIL, Further
Discussion and the Unit Summary questions.
The Teacher's Guide and Teacher's DVD-ROM include 20 photocopiable pages
of IGCSE examination practice material including specific audio for listening
exams.
